PANSY LOVE

This unframed watercolor painting (Pansy Love) is just newly completed.   Lately, I have been focusing on watercolor rather than colored pencil, which has been my medium of choice for decades.   Being locked in the house during this pandemic, experimenting with watercolor has helped me get through this trying time.  I am a ballroom dancer who, under normal circumstances, is at the dance studio at least two times every week ...  and of course there is none of that going on now.   So stepping out of my "norm" and experimenting with watercolor has kind of been a salvation for me, helping to take my mind off being locked in, except for grocery shopping.  In this painting, Pansy Love (and I DO love pansies), I really, really wanted to experiment with letting the paint run off the bottom of the painting, something that is 180 degrees different in technique than what I do in colored pencil ... hence the fun of something doing new and exhilarating.
